Why all the small auctions?

You may have noticed lately that a bunch of smaller auctions have started appearing in each half-hour slot. Yes, we are experimenting. We wanted to give a chance for more folks to win. And you guys are taking that opportunity!

In fact, people are getting insane deals on the 40 Free Bids and the $10 Amazon Gift Cards. I'd say around 90% of folks are spending less than 40 bids to snag these little bid packs, and a bunch of $10 Amazon Gift Cards are going for 1 or 2 bids.

So, if you're new to penny auctions, you might want to consider one of these "starter" auctions. I can't make any guarantees obviously -- the outcome of all auctions on BidBlink are determined by the users.

If you're a bidding pro, you can bid on these auctions if you'd like -- it's your choice. But you can also go for our bigger auctions. Completely up to you!

What are your thoughts about these new "micro" auctions?

We now have a blog!

BidBlink now has a blog! We really needed a better way to keep in touch with you and inform you about all of the new and exciting stuff we're working on at BidBlink, so we added a blog to our humble little site. If you're an active BidBlink user or you are just curious about penny auctions in general, I highly recommend you subscribe to our blog feed. You can do that by clicking on orange icon in the upper right of the page.

Introductions

We've now been operating BidBlink for a little over a month now, but I'm not sure we've formally introduced ourselves. Certainly we've been emailing back and forth with some of you, and even had some good phone conversations.

I'm Jonathan Novak, the tech lead / founder at BidBlink. I handle all of the coding and site-building activities. I used to work over at WorkingPoint building the best business management software there is, but I recently left those good folks to focus on BidBlink full-time!

Ryan Smith is the other founder. He handles most of the support, business relationships, and defining the best auction rules available. He even dabbles in my Rails code from time to time!

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: we want to provide you guys with the most compelling penny auction experience there is. We're going to do that by:

  • Maintaining the highest of ethics and ensuring fairness across all of our auctions
  • Give our customers the best deals possible. Ten cent bids and buy-now opportunities are examples of that
  • Constantly innovate to provide you with the excitement and adrenaline we felt when we first experienced penny auctions

That's it for now. We're going to work tirelessly to improve this site. What you see here is only the tip of the iceberg. Trust me!
